SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISIONDeputy Chief Carl Bee Jr.270-765-4125carl.bee@elizabethtownky.govDeputy Chief Carl Bee has been with the Elizabethtown Police Department since March of 1990, where he worked in the patrol division for 2 years before attending the Department of Criminal Justice Training FTO Program. While working in patrol, Deputy Chief Bee trained new officers until he was promoted to Sergeant of Patrol Division in 1994. He was then appointed Deputy Chief of the Support Services Division in 1996. Deputy Chief Bee is a 1987 graduate from Eastern Kentucky University where he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Administration. He is a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Alumni Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police as well as a facilitator for the Central Kentucky Criminal Activity Share Meetings and is also active in the Kentucky Special Olympics Program. | The Elizabethtown Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit consists of six detectives and one administrative assistant. Detectives are responsible for the investigation of all felony crimes that occur within the jurisdictional limits of Elizabethtown. One investigator is currently assigned to the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force. This detective is devoted full time to investigate illegal drug activity, which plays a major role in reducing all types of Larceny offences. |

All detectives receive specialized training to include Crime Scene Investigation, Robbery and Burglary Investigation, Homicide and Death Investigation, Sex Crimes, Crimes Against Children and the Elderly, Street Gangs, Counterfeiting and Forgery, Abduction, and numerous other criminal investigative areas.
Members of the CIU strive to maintain contact with victims on all active investigations and keeping them informed of new developments and updates.
The Criminal Investigations Section is an active member and supporter of the Hardin County Crime Stoppers. This program solicits information on criminal cases and pays rewards for information leading to the arrest of suspects, up to $1,000.00. A person calling Hardin County Crime Stoppers need not give their name. All information is greatly appreciated and will be forwarded to the appropriate agency working the cases. The Criminal Investigations Unit also hosts a monthly Intelligence Meeting, held the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Community Room of the Elizabethtown Police Department, 300 South Mulberry Street, Elizabethtown, Kentucky. These meetings are open to all law enforcement agencies, on the local, state and federal levels. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss active cases and suspects and compare notes on similar criminal activity occurring throughout the state. A newsletter is published with the outcome of the Intelligence Meetings and is available to any interested law enforcement agency.

| The Communications Unit consists of a communications supervisor and seven dispatchers who work all three shifts, with two dispatchers on duty during most shifts. They are responsible for answering the calls from citizens and visitors of Elizabethtown and dispatching the officers to those in need of service. |
Newly hired tele-communicators must attend a four week Tele-Communicator Academy in Richmond, Kentucky, and also have a 12 week "On the Job Training" program. New tele-communicators are on probation for a period of six months.
Tele-Communicators are responsible for answering five outside police phone lines, two 911 lines, security and alarm phone lines, Hardin County Crime Stoppers line, public works phone line and three radio frequencies. Along with handling all the traffic from the officers and answering the phones, they have to dispatch calls for the Public Works/Gas Department, handle all the paper work involved in the communications center consisting of typing daily journals of all events that occurred on the shift, entering calls for service and updating "CAD" (Computer Aided Dispatch), entering stolen property/wanted persons/missing persons in the State/National (LINK/NCIC) computer systems for both the Elizabethtown Police Department and the Hardin County Sheriffs office, entering and updating EPO/DVO (Protection Orders) daily. They also handle "Hit" confirmations from other agencies, reference recovered property and/or apprehended wanted/missing persons from other jurisdictions.
