ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISIONDeputy Chief Jack Harris270-765-4125Deputy Chief Jack Harris joined the Elizabethtown Police Department in 1982 and in 1990 was promoted to Sergeant in the Patrol Division along with being Public Information Officer. In 1994 he was promoted to Lieutenant of the Patrol Division and remained there until he was appointed Deputy Chief of the Administrative Services Division in 1996. Deputy Chief Harris is a 1973 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and attended the University of Louisville from 1978 until 1982. Throughout his career he has received several awards for his service to our community, some of these are the Optimist Club Officer of the Year and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Officer of the Year. He is most noted as starting the Elizabethtown Police Department D.A.R.E. Program in the Elizabethtown Independent School System and Saint James Catholic School. He has served on several committees such as the Communicare Rape Victims Assistance Program Advisory Committee and was actively involved from 1990 to 1997 with the Hardin County March of Dimes WalkAmericia Committee. Deputy Chief Harris is an active supporter of Community Oriented Policing and is affiliated with several local, state and national groups and professional associations. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police, the Kentucky D.A.R.E. Association, the National D.A.R.E. Officers Association and the National Information Officers Association. He currently oversees the Administrative Services Division. This division is made up of three units that allow for the rapid and accurate dissimilation of information to federal, state and local governments as well as to the citizens we serve. The units are the Records Unit, Police Community Relations and the Computer Information. RECORDS UNITCONTACT: Angela Townsend -- 270-360-0207The Records Unit is responsible for the collection, entry, and archiving of citations, warning tickets, case reports, accident reports, and other documents or information they receive from the Patrol and Support Services Divisions. This information is then compiled and copies are transmitted to federal, state, and local government agencies. The unit is also responsible for the release of record's checks, case reports, accident reports, and direction assistance to locations in the area. Fingerprinting is done Monday through Friday during business hours, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Persons wanting their fingerprints taken need to supply their own local, state, federal or business fingerprint cards. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Child Identification, Citizens Police Academy. and the Cadet Program. The Elizabethtown Police Department is proud of its commitment to the children within our community. D.A.R.E. is currently being taught in all the fifth grade classes of the Elizabethtown Independent Schools, Saint James Catholic School, and the G. C. Burkhead Elementary School. The middle school D.A.R.E. program is being taught at the eighth grade level at Saint James Catholic School. The unit provides numerous community services and crime prevention presentations. It is a key element in the Hardin County Crime Stoppers program. Members of the unit represent the area of Elizabethtown and Hardin County at meetings of the Kentucky Crime Stoppers Association.
